International Shuai Jiao Seminar 2021 - Report

ESJU Seminar Report

The 2021 International Shuai Jiao Seminar took place from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 September, 2021, in Montesilvano, Italy. The event hosted by the ESJU in association with ACSI, was the first time since the start if the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic for a gathering of Shuai Jiao practitioners from across Europe.

Master Antonio Langiano, assisted by Alessio Pascuilli and Master Robert Simpson coordinated the seminar. The event was a tremendous success. It was understood that a number of organisations raised concerns about a safe return to training given the requirement for close proximity during throwing practice. All of the concerns were addressed.

Working with ASCI the ESJU ensured a safe return to training and international seminars in compliance with national government regulations. All participants were double vaccinated, and tested before and after the event with temperature checks, face covering and social distancing in effect in the event hotel when not participating at the sports centre.

ESJU Board Meeting

The ESJU Executive Board met to discuss the impact of the pandemic on Shuai Jiao promotion and development, in Europe. The Board also discussed an approach to standardisation and consistency of high quality curriculum development of Shuai Jiao in Europe and in accordance with the World Shuai Jiao Federation (WSJF). The Board agreed that each member would host an annual seminar for ESJU officials to attend to help promote and develop Shuai Jiao in their respective countries. A note of the meeting will be available for members. The Board also agreed an ESJU Programme of Activities for the next 5 years. The proposal for the next European Shuai Jiao Championships was accepted, in principle, to take place in 2022 in Ukraine.
