Shuai Jiao Styles



There are four principle styles of shuia jiao and a number of sub styles. The similarities between three of the principle styles Bei Jing, Tian Jin and Bao Ding styles cause them to sometimes be called Hebei Shuai Jiao or simply Shuai Jiao. The fourth principle style is Boke.

Bao Ding


Bao Ding also called Kuai Jiao or Fast Wrestling. Obviously, what separates this style of shuai jiao is the speed with which techniques are applied.

Bei Jing


The Beijing style is characterized by using the legs to knock opponents off balance.

Bo Ke


The Bo Ke or Mongol is arguably the foundation style for Shuai Jiao developed in Mongolia.

Tian Jin


Tian Jin originated from Ming Dynasty and Manchu Buku lineage.


Shuai Jiao Sub Styles


Shan Xi


Shan Xi was developed in the Song Dynasty. Shan Xi Shuai Jiao emphasises leg catching techniques.

Xin Jiang


Xin Jiang is related to the Turkish styles of wrestling emphasising the waist in the application of techniques.
